Treaty of Allahabad | UPSC
The treaty of Allahabad was signed between Robert Clive and Emperor Shah Alam II on behalf of the East India Company in 1765 AD.
Through this treaty, the East India Company accepted the return of Koda and the district of Allahabad to Shah Alam II.
At the same time, the company had accepted an annual dues of Rs 26 lakh to the emperor.
In return for this treaty, the emperor handed over the East India Company to the 'Diwani' (right to recover revenue) of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa.
