Who was the first sultan of the Delhi Sultanate?

Qutbuddin Aibak was the ruler of medieval India, as well as the first ruler of the Delhi Sultanate and the first Sultanate of the Ghulam dynasty. He was Turkish of the Aibak community and was a Sultan for only four years between 1206 and 1210. Qazi took care of Qutbuddin quite well. And as a child, Qutbuddin was trained in archery, fencing, education and horse running. But when his master died, his son sold Qutbuddin to a businessman.


And finally he was bought by Sultan Muhammad Ghori, the ruler of Ghor in central Afghanistan. Qutb-ud-din Aibak soon attracted Muhammad Ghori with his skills and he soon became a favorite of Muhammad Ghori. Many states of northern India were later captured by Qutbuddin. And as the empire of the Ghori sultan grew, he gave Qutbuddin the right to rule in Central India.


Muhammad Ghori proved himself a strong and powerful ruler by expanding his empire in Afghanistan. Most of his empire was spread in Afghanistan, Pakistan and North India. And due to this, Qutbuddin Aibak was also given the title of Sultan of Delhi in 1206, when Muhammad Ghori died on the battlefield. He made many efforts to improve the administrative machinery in the Ghori kingdom.
