Iltutmish: Considered to be the first ruler of Delhi to make the throne hereditary

Iltutmish

Iltutmish means the protector of the empire. Iltutmish belonged to Ilbari kabile of Turkistan. From the beginning, he showed signs of intelligence and cleverness. This made his brothers very jealous and they denied him ancestral home and protection. But adversity did not destroy her qualities and soon opened a new door in her life. His qualities attracted the attention of Qutubuddin, the then royalty of Delhi, who bought at a high price.

Iltutmish gradually increased his status by his ability. He was made the ruler of Badaun and was married to a daughter of Qutubuddin. At the time of Muhammad Ghori's invasion of the Khokars, he was freed from slavery by the Sultan's command to commemorate his services and was elevated to Amirul-Umrah.

Thus the chieftains of Delhi chose a qualified person. But after sitting on the throne in 1210 or 1211 AD, Iltutmish found himself in a crisis situation. Nasiruddin Kubacha established independence in Sindh and it seemed that he also wanted to establish his dominance over Punjab. Tajuddin Yalduz who had taken control of Ghazni was still sitting on the old claims of sovereignty over Muhammad's Indian territories.

Construction of Qutub Minar completed. Got a bell tied to the lions for justice. Built the mosque in Nagaur and the door of Vishal Atkin. Built the Garhi Tomb of Shamsi Hauz and Nasirudin Mahmud in Delhi which is considered to be the first tomb of India. Minhaj, the author of Vakat-e-Nasiri, was a prominent scholar of this period. To help with administration, formed a group called Turkan-i-Chihalgani. During the Sultanate period, the tradition of declaring hereditary system and declaring heir as successor was started by Mish. In fact, there was no definite tradition of succession in this period.

Iltutmish, after the death of his beloved son Nasiruddin Mahmud, announced his daughter Razia as his successor after returning from the Gwalior campaign. In memory of Nasiruddin Mahmud, he built the first mausoleum in Delhi called Garhi ka Maqbara. Its last campaign is believed to be of Vamiyan. During this time he died after becoming ill. Iltutmish is considered the first ruler of Delhi to make the throne hereditary.

After the death of Iltutmish, the rich did not sit Razia on the throne and his worthy son Ruknuddin Firoz. It was a weak and incompetent ruler. The whole rule was in the hands of its luxurious ambition and cruel mother Shah Turkhan. It was mischievous. Historians have described it as a maid who became an important mother in Mish's harem and became the mother of Ruknuddin.
